Last week, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, was accused of manipulating his party primaries across the country.

On Sunday, November 4, the Department of States Service (DSS) reportedly interrogated him for nine hours. This was based on allegations made by the state governors that he received bribes to influence primary elections.  


APC primaries fallout

According to reports, recent controversies involving the APC have made some state governors unhappy, hence the move against Oshiomhole. In Zamfara, for example, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) disqualified the party from participating in the 2019 elections because it did not conclude its primaries before the stipulated deadline.

Similarly, the Ogun Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, had a squabble with the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) after the committee picked another candidate for the 2019 polls over his preferred candidate, Abiodun Akinlade.
