California is the home of the US entertainment industry, and it also houses the world's largest cluster of technology companies in Silicon Valley. And they have benefitted from the Golden State's environment of openness, innovation and "weirdness" thanks to their creativity when solving problems.

But in the last couple of years, mindsets are changing, and a growing number of companies are considering leaving California. Over the last four years, America's ideological division and the switch to remote working has made it possible for many people to do their jobs from almost anywhere in the world. The pandemic has accelerated these trends. Now people and companies are rethinking what they want from life and how they want to work.
