Mind the gap: gender equality in Nigeria is still a long way off

I looked down from a plane on the expanding landscape as we approached our destination, and everything seemed so peaceful. The streets were clean, cars were moving around slowly, and there was order.

A 30-story house was the size of my finger, and a Dangote truck seemed like a spec through the window.

To the person on the actual street, they likely saw things very differently. This same "picturesque" environment was noisy, chaotic, and dirty. It was Lagos. Isn't it incredible how the same environment can appear so different depending on how you look at it?

But you don't have to get on a plane to experience a different perspective. Depending on your age, social class, location, culture, religion or disability, the world can be a very different place.
