In 2017, I travelled to Ghana to write my CFA exams. It was my first time in Accra, and in a few hours, I noticed three things about the country. First, their cars were small. On the average, they were much smaller than the vehicles in Lagos. Most of the cars I saw were Kia Picanto-sized. Regular sedans such as a Toyota Corolla were less common in Ghana.

The second thing I noticed was that the Kotoka International airport was much nicer than the Murtala Muhammed International Airport. This observation hurt, so I’m not going to discuss it too much. 

The third thing was that merchants were more willing to accept dollars. On my way to the hotel, I stopped at a store, and the storekeeper quoted my amount in dollars. It was the same thing when I got to my hotel. “$100 a night”, the hotel receptionist bellowed in
